Best in Show: International Dog Day at Spring Farm Village

Every dog thinks they're best in show. On Saturday 29 August, one of them gets to prove it.

We're marking International Dog Day at Spring Farm Village with a day built entirely around Kingston's four-legged locals — and their very patient humans. Portraits, washes, treats, and a photo competition with a $200 prize on the line. Bring your best friend.

The photo competition

We'll have a photo wall set up with a backdrop and a basket of costumes and props we're possibly too pleased with. Help yourself, dress your dog up, take your shot — then pop everything back in the basket so the next pup can have a turn.

Email your photo to info@springfarmvillage.com.au by Monday 31 August.

We'll shortlist our five favourites and put them to a public vote on Facebook from Tuesday 1 to Thursday 3 September. The winner is announced Friday 4 September and takes home a $200 gift bag.

Bringing your own costume is very welcome too.

Free pet portraits — 10am to 1pm

Local artist Jidah will be painting free watercolour portraits of you and your dog, live on the day. Sitting still is optional but appreciated.

Free dog wash token — 10am to 1pm

Collect a free token from Jidah while you're there, then use it on the K9000 self-serve dog wash. A clean dog photographs better — we don't make the rules.

Free blanket and bed wash

Bring your dog's bedding down to Loaded Laundry and use the washer and dryer free on the day. No token needed, just turn up.

Free treats, while stocks last

Dog bones from Jo's Fresh Meats. Pet-friendly cookies from Hansel & Gretel Bakery. Puppuccinos from Happy Larry. First in, best dressed — and last in, still very much loved.
